Weekend update: Mundania

Yes, this weekend update comes to you on a Tuesday.  It’s the weekend for nurses.

On This American Life this week, they used the word “mundania” to describe a writer’s everyday activities on his farm: feeding the horses, tending to the garden, spending time with family.

My personal mundania is anything but mundane–it’s amazing.  This week, we did our garden spring cleaning and preparations for Easter.  We finally created a compost bin for all the compostables that have accumulated in our kitchen.  We made homemade pickles!   As we enter into Holy Week, it’s really nice to be at home and enjoy the simple things.

What could be better?

Currently reading: Jane Eyre

“We know that God is everywhere; but certainly we feel His presence most when His works are on the grandest scale spread before us; and it is in the unclouded night-sky, where His worlds wheel their silent course, that we read clearest His infinitude, His omnipotence, His omnipresence.”

  1. It’s good to be reminded of all that we have, especially all that we have in the simplest of things. Too often I focus on what I don’t have and what is making my life more difficult. And most of the time, my worrying and fretting over those difficulties and perceived “needs” (not really needs!) does absolutely nothing to make my life or anyone else’s any better! So I’m going to do what you suggest – at least today – and appreciate all that I have. Thanks Kid! Blessed and meaningful Holy Week to you too.
