Welcome!

Hi, friends! I’m Hayley.  I’m (currently) an ER nurse, (always) a book lover, and the author of this here blog.  Welcome!

Let’s talk about me.

Last April, I munched on some kettle corn and watched on as movers boxed up everything I owned.  I remember thinking, “What’s the worst that can happen?”  My roommate laughed at how unfazed I seemed by my days-away move to Japan, and I explained it as just needing time to sink in.

A few weeks later, I arrived in Japan with my then-fiance , and we both started new jobs.  It was months before we had any of our things, and longer until I had my bearings on the island.  With so much happening, we leaned on each other for support.

Now, things are a little less overwhelming, but we try hard to make every single day an adventure.  I love the life we live here; nature is everywhere, and each day brings something new to try.

This blog is the story of my life’s great adventure, one day at a time.

It’s been a blast!  I love getting to know all of you amazing readers, and finding creative ways to share my life with you.  Although I started with reading, my blog has branched out to talk about my new life in Japan, travel, baby, and my love for all things food.

If you’re new, a few of my favorite posts to get you started are:

Finding Time To Read While You’re Busy Living

Destination Reading

Wedded Bliss

Fan Mail

Kuidaore: Eat Til You Drop!

Feline Good at the Neco Cafe

Come on in, stay a while.

I love your blog so much!

I get so excited to see a new Hl post in my email and it is often the first thing I read in the morning to start my day off. You are so great at getting me thinking about all kinds of things

Today I am thinking of thankful Thursday, a much better concept than UW-Madison’s Thirsty Thursday which Ben taught me about when he was at Madison the first time. I told my hairstylist today, ” first you teach your kids things and then your kids teach you things” It’s a great system.
